Hey! Look at that! I am back. Alright I tried to watch the Presidental Address but I just can't sit there and watch Bush try and tell me that everything is great and getting better by the second. It just makes me ill. Is his time up yet? Is his last 4 years or reign over yet? Cause I am not sure our country can withstand too many more years like these last ones. Ugh! Let's not get me started on all of that, it just gets me depressed and even more pessimistic than I am now if that is even possible.
I was looking around on the net and found out that Starting Line is coming to Lawrence, KS! It's about a 45 min drive but its well worth it to see them again. And then low and behold I checked out Allister and they will be here in about 2 and a half weeks. I hope that Dustin will go with me cause I cannot miss Allister. There are a ton of concerts coming to town this summer. I am just soo excited. Now if I can just find a job I would be set. Yeah, unfortunately it takes money to buy tickets to the concerts and you can only get money from working or from mommy and daddy giving you money and since my mommy cant afford to pay for me for the rest of my life I guess I have to find one of those job thingies. Which is proving to be wayyy harder than most people would thing it would be. Hmm this music isnt helping me get out of my funk. Jack Johnson is getting replaced with ....Allister - Before the Blackout.
Allister has been one of my favorite bands since the summer that I moved down to Columbia. I remember my friend Molly at the time was telling me about how she went and saw a band at the El Torreon in midtown KC and she ended up seeing Allister there and she said I would love them so I went online and was listening to them for a few months before I saw they were coming to town, and by that time I had gotten my other friend Samantha hooked on them and so I convinced them both to come down to Columbia
and see them at the Blue Note with me. It was a very small show since while Columbia is a college town, summer is when all the kids go back home. So while the show was small we had a great time. So when they were headed to Lawrence, KS a few months later for the Drive-Thru Invasion Tour, we were all about it. By that time I had been all over Drive-Thru's site and had fallen in love with Early November and liked Starting Line. So we ended up driving out to Lawrence. We listened to Early November and this amazing band that ended up becoming Samantha's favorite because while that day we noticed them because of their awesome stage presence and killer sound we didnt have a clue as to how amazing they were until we bought their cd, Senses Fail. We got into the pit for Allister and got slammed and stomped and we sang until we lost our voices and were covered in sweat, then when we ran back to tell Molly what she missed out on, Scottie (my hottie)bass guitarist and lyricist for Allister came walking by. Molly, Samantha and I all get our picture taken with him and after that we were so high we decided just to scrap seeing Starting Line and get out of there since we needed air and the night couldn't possibly get any better so we went outside and while getting ready to cross the street we ran into Kyle guitarist for Allister (and sweetheart hottie!!) and Molly got a pict with him and we talked to him for a few and he told us about how they were heading out to LA after the tour to start filming SleepOver and then they would be back touring before starting work on the next album which became Before the Blackout. He was very charismatic and such a sweetie and will forever be my favorite out of Allister. Anyways, after talking to him, and almost passing out, we crossed the street and sat on a bench giggleing like school girls and thats when we saw Mike, Drummer for Allister and Samantha thought he was the most amazing drummer at the time so I made her go up and ask for a picture so thats why she's grinning like an idiot in the picture with Mike. It was the first time I have ever seen her nervous. LOL We attempted to get Tim's picture, lead singer and guitarist for Allister but he was busy on the phone for about 30 mins :P But while we were waiting my little hottie came up and sat right next to me on the bench and wanted to know what we were up to. Yes I didn almost faint as did Molly, but we pulled it off and ended up asking who made this funny laugh in None Of My Friends Are Punks which ended up being Scottie. And once we calmed ourselves down we went home. I have been to see them twice since then, we drove all the way to Chicago after they went to LA and came back to tour for a couple of months but none of their shows were near KC or Columbia so we went to their hometown to see them and then again about 3 months ago when they came to town. I would be soo happy to see them again. I just have to make sure I can go. Allister really did open up a whole new world for me and Samantha. They brought us to Lawrence to see them and we saw Senses Fail and fell in love with them, then in Chicago we fell in love with Split Habit. I will always love Allister for waking me up and opening my eyes, I don't think I would be the same if I hadn't heard them. Its really funny how something silly can change your life. The fact that it was music that did it is the only thing that makes any sense to me. Samantha and I wouldn't have been as close as we were and things woudl have been drastically different without her as my best friend. Yep as silly as it sounds, I love Allister!
